SFT Pig Conference 2015

05/11/2015 at 10:00 am - 4:40 pm

Pig Specialists from the feed supply chain e.g. Technical Advisors, Nutritionists, Buyers, Quality Control and Production personnel involved in animal feed production for pigs. Vets will also be able to update their technical knowledge and stay at the leading edge of the latest scientific developments. This programme is also appropriate for farmers involved with pigs and companies are therefore welcome to invite their customers to the conference, and with a team of experienced international speakers of the highest quality we can look forward to each paper being informative, relevant and attractively presented.

The conference will focus on two different but highly relevant areas of pig production – the breeding herd and young piglet performance. The importance of litter size and the impact of early piglet growth on lifetime performance and profitability will be examined by Dr Dean Boyd from University of North Carolina, while Dr Emma Baxter, SRUC will discuss improving litter survival.

Topics to be discussed include:

• Increasing litter size born: Impact of lifetime progeny growth and profitability

• Improving piglet survival

• The role of ANF from soya in young animal nutrition

• Getting the most out of the breeding herd

• Reducing antibiotics in pig production: A Belgian perspective

• Improving gut health through nutrition
